Michael Jackson Wasn't Killed By Doctor's Propofol Dose, Expert Says

'I don't believe it was a contributing factor,' Dr. Paul White testifies.

Testimony from the final defense witness resumed Monday (October 31) in the involuntary manslaughter trial of Michael Jackson's former doctor, Conrad Murray. Once again, jurors heard from Dr. Paul White, an expert on the surgical anesthetic propofol, who tried to convince the court last week that Jackson had injected himself with a fatal dose of the drug while Murray was absent. As he did Friday, White also offered that Murray's conduct was unusual and broke protocol but didn't rise to the level of involuntary manslaughter.

The Witness
» Dr. Paul White, propofol expert

Key Testimony
» It was the prosecution's turn to question White on Monday, and the anesthesiologist somewhat reiterated the claims he made to defense attorneys last week, that Murray's method of administering propofol to Jackson in the singer's bedroom was unorthodox at best.

» "Without careful bedside monitoring, it could be dangerous," White said of the treatment Murray gave Jackson in the two months before the pop icon's June 2009 death, according to the Los Angeles Times. Asked if that care could result in death, White said if the propofol IV "came opened up widely ... certainly you could achieve a significant effect that could result in cardiopulmonary arrest." The Los Angeles County Coroner's office determined that Jackson died of acute propofol intoxication, which resulted in cardiac arrest.

» White also conceded to prosecutors that he's never administered propofol in someone's home and had never heard of such a thing being done. When asked if, like Murray, he would have waited 20 minutes to call 911, White said no, but added that many physicians are nervous and anxious in such situations. Prosecutor David Walgren scoffed at that explanation, noting that by his own admission Murray had a cell phone in his hand during the final critical moments of Jackson's life.

» Judge Michael Pastor sent the jury out of the room at one point after becoming exasperated with White's references to details he learned from two "extensive conversations" he had with Murray that are not considered admissible in court. According to HLN, after a second occurrence, Pastor announced in court that White violated his order and threatened a $1,000 sanction if the expert is found in contempt of court. Pastor scheduled a contempt hearing for November.

» Afternoon testimony continued with a few more heated exchanges between Walgren and White over the detailed explanations, graphs and analysis of the amounts of propofol found in Jackson's bloodstream and urine. White stated that he doesn't believe that Murray's dose of propofol caused Jackson's death: "I think that it was extremely unlikely, and I don't believe it was a contributing factor."

» Murray is not expected to take the stand in his defense.

Murray, who was being paid $150,000 a month to care for Jackson, had pleaded not guilty to the felony charge of involuntary manslaughter and is now facing four years in prison. But new sentencing laws in California aimed at mandatorily reducing state prison overcrowding mean that, as a nonviolent offender with no prior record, he could be sentenced to county jail instead. If that is the case, his sentence could be reduced to two years and, because of overcrowding in the Los Angeles County jail, he may be allowed to serve the majority of his time under supervised house arrest.

The case is expected to go to the jury later this week.

Eva Longoria Gets Political

evaglam1_wide.jpg
Eva Longoria hit the Glamour Reel Moments premiere red carpet on Monday in Hollywood, wearing a bright blue dress for her directorial debut. Eva, who looked stunning in her blue dress, told In Touch she chose her outfit because she was going to the state dinner at the White House after the premiere, and she thought it looked democratic.

The actress, whose short film premiered at the event, also discussed her inspiration for giving back. ?I have a very philanthropic family, so I was raised with charity giving and compassion. I?m inspired mostly by my older sister who has special needs, Lisa. So being part of her world and seeing people who don?t have what you have and who need more than you need kind of instills in you this empathy and compassion for life.?

Now that she?s had a hand in acting and directing, what does Eva prefer? ?I like them both. Directing definitely gives you more control of the end product. As an actor you just show up and look pretty, say your lines, say them right. But as a director, you have total control of the editing and the final product and the music, I mean just everything, so it was definitely different muscles that you had to use.?

Will she ever direct a feature film? ?I?ll definitely be doing a feature length in the future, not any time soon because it takes a lot of time.?

Kim Kardashian Files for Divorce from Kris Humphries

Looking as if life happily ever after wasn't just wasn't the cards for the couple, Kim Kardashian is reportedly planning to file for divorce later today (October 31).

According to TMZ sources, after just 72 days of wedded togetherness, the E! reality starlet has decided to seek a legal end from husband Kris Humphries, citing the ever-popular "irreconcilable differences" for the demise.

Beefing up her side with lawyer to the stars Laura Wasser, Kardashian will be represented by the same attorney known for repping stars like Angelina Jolie, Britney Spears, Maria Shriver and Ryan Reynolds.

The news comes amidst heavy speculation the two were heading to splitsville, following a few allegedly unhappy-looking sightings of the duo. Kim and Kris, who tied the knot back on August 20th, do have a prenuptial agreement in place.

Lindsay Lohan to Beg For Mercy in Court

Lindsay Lohan is prepared to eat a piece of humble pie in court and beg Judge Stephanie Sautner for mercy. Whether she'll be successful or not is another story.

Wednesday, at a hearing that could end with a jail sentence, she will concede she violated her probation by getting kicked out of her community service program.

The hearing is to establish if Lindsay violated probation for her necklace heist and what consequences she will face if so. But the first part of that may be moot.

Lovely Lohan

After a series of repeated f*%k-ups, LiLo's shift in strategy is designed to show the judge she is now finally serious about complying with her probation terms.

She'll come to court having logged 24 hours of time at the morgue, significantly more than the 16 hours Sautner required her to put in by Wednesday's hearing.

By effectively admitting guilt, her plan has risks - but could also lead to a lighter sentence than if she were to try and fail to establish her innocence all along.

Judge Sautner made it clear that if Lindsay violated probation she would go to jail. She does not seem like she's messing around, but we'll see for sure soon.

If nothing else, her new teeth will look great in a new mug shot.

What do you think? Should Lohan do hard time?

Terrell Owens Seeks Reduction in Child Support

Not a great stretch for Terrell Owens these days.

The former NFL great wore out his welcome with the league and wasn't asked to any tryouts this fall. Then he possibly tried to off himself by OD-ing last week.

Now, dude's battling child support woes as well.

Owens, Terrell

Terrell Owens' rep says he should be paying less in child support to baby mama Monique Reynolds than back in the days when he, you know, got paid a lot.

Owens wants a judge reduce the payments he's making, and for them to "mirror his income today and not be based on income from over four years ago."

T.O. was due in court in Northern California for a child support hearing on October 24, but he did not show up. Lawyers for Reynolds wouldn't reschedule.

The former Pro Bowl wide receiver's audition for prospective NFL teams was the next day. No one showed up to that one either ... besides T.O. that is.

Here's hoping we won't hear another Terrell Owens 911 call this week.
